Passed Away July 6, 2023
Marie (Arlene) B. Guay, 91, passed away July 6, 2023, in Denver, NC at the home of her daughter Debbie and son-in-law Jesse, where she was lovingly cared for the last years of her life.
Arlene was born in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Boudreau) Blinn. She was a graduate of St. James High School and McIntosh Business College in Haverhill. She also took continuing education courses at the local community college in Haverhill. Arlene worked for many years at National Grid in North Andover, retiring in 1993 as an Analyst in the Division Engineering Department.
After retirement, Arlene and Ken started spending more time in Florida, ultimately buying a house in Port Charlotte, which they called home for 18 years. You could often find Arlene on the lanai, watching Ken garden and enjoying the company of her dog.
Arlene enjoyed volunteering at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, and the Peace River Memorial Hospital and the Cultural Center of Charlotte County in Port Charlotte.
Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Denver, NC, where Judy Gais brought her weekly communion which she greatly appreciated; and St. Charles Borromeo Church and the Isabellas in Port Charlotte. She was also a member of the St. Anne’s Society at All Saints Church and the Legion of Mary in Haverhill.
Her hobbies included fishing – but not baiting the hook – with Ken, reading, playing 45, doing puzzles, playing at the casinos, and cuddling with her dog, Zoey.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Donna Comeau and husband David of Simsbury, CT; Deborah Rodriguez and husband Jesse of Denver, NC; Theresa Guay and spouse Joyce Warburton of Haverhill, MA; and son, Kenneth Guay, Jr. of San Diego, CA., as well as her grandchildren: Jennifer O’Toole (Michael) of West Simsbury, CT; Christopher Comeau (Kate) of Shrewsbury, MA; Jason Rodriguez of Los Angeles, CA; and Melissa Rodriguez (Garrett Becker) of Charlotte, NC and great grandchildren: Corinne Arlene O’Toole, Emmett O’Toole, and Reagan Becker.
Arlene was predeceased by her beloved dancing partner and husband of 62 years, Ken; brothers: Leonard & Allen Blynn and sister, Frances Forbes, all of Haverhill, MA.
Memorial donations may be made to Southern Pup, a dog rescue organization, PO Box 71, Macon, MS 39341.
